Charging through the high grass of Valleyview
Locusts soared above the flight of the ladybirds due
On an aphid killer sprint to please our dad’s
Save the roses and the glads
And grasshoppers lacked the colour of the raiders in herds
Or the butterfly’s on a mission with the colour of summer
The long grasses bent easily forward as we charged
Through fields
And slaters ducked for cover as centipedes stretched their limbs
Rolling down grassy slopes was always a favourite thing
For kids
Disturbing mosquitoes and all insects that sting
Charging through the high grass of Valleyview
Kids without a care and fearing nothing
