When you stand so close
I am so black I make your friends look worried
When they stand so close
I am so black I make a taxi’s brakes fail
When they come so close
I am so black I make bus drivers nervous
When the stop is so close
I am so black I make all Australians nervous
When a native is so close
I am so black I make John Howard afraid
When a sorry is so close
I am so black I no longer take the time with white man
When we are not so close

i think this poem is racist to white people. I know that whites havn’t treated balcks properly but u cant really complain the way things are goin right now
I doubt it………..racism does not come out of truth
what do you meen?
dearest……
i think that your poem is great
Hi Jason
When people understand the truth they are rarely racist in their views. Racism comes from ignorance.
Hey i think the poem means alot and although i am a white australia i try my hardest to treat aboriginals with reapect and i feel the the writter is obvisily a very talented writter and ask for the details of any more of his poems i loved this poem and feel sorry for any aboriginal that gets shit 4 there colour and personal i love the colour of an aboriginal

Do you think this poem is racist??
Why do you think it’s racist?? Just because it has the words…
“I am so black” in it! is that why??
