Aboriginal Land

Blacks know it
Whites know it
Governments know it
Developers blow it

Aboriginal Land

Blacks own it
Whites own it
Governments Zone it
Developers rape it

Aboriginal Land

Blacks protect it
Whites wreck it
Governments tax it
Developers take it

Aboriginal Land

Blacks leave it
Whites steal it
Governments approve it
Developers change it

Aboriginal Land
Lost

  1. the poems really interesting however one line i dont understand is
Black protect it —-? this has me wondering….from my micro perspective a lot of ppl would say they abuse it along with their charter rights

  10. Hi there Paul
I am using this poem in a year 11 english assignment which is about the power of poetry to give a voice to the Australian Aboriginal people who have suffered to much under the hands of the European settlers. I chose land rights as my issue, and this poem really was helpful as it is succinct and blunt about what has happened. It also provided many different crafts for me to discuss. I have referenced it all correctly to ensure you have been acknowledged for your work.
The only trouble I did have was finding information about you to give a short bibliography of the poet.
Thank you for writing poetry – it is obvious that you write from the heart
    Keep it up
    – Holly

  11. Hey there Paul!
    Wanna here my poem?

Through the trees and out in the sun
past the mangroves and jump to have fun
black so loving and white so cruel
    totally different- love and cruel
speak from the heart the aborigines do
speak from the minds the white people too
The difference in heart the difference in mind.

How cool is that? I made it up just then! On the top of my head…I know its not as good as yours but at least I tried right???

  12. wait doesn’t sound right!

    Now we we shall find
the difference in hear and the difference in mind.

    thats better
